Event Description: 2013 Leadership Academy
Monday Evenings, Starting January 14, 2013 through March 18, 2013
5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Cost:  $250 per person includes all class materials and a light meal at 5:30 p.m. each week.

For over ten years, The Leadership Academy has been preparing individuals to effectively serve their communities by instructing participants about the issues, requirements and expectations associated with public service.

The 10-week course is taught by a highly experienced faculty comprised of current officeholders, instructors from local institutions of higher education and others, all with a proven track record of working or interacting with government entities.

January 14 - "Public Service and Conducting Meetings" - Joe Lucente, Assistant Professor, Community Development, Ohio State University Extension/Ohio Sea Grant Program

January 21 - "Leadership Skills, Styles and Decision Making" - The Honorable Barbara Sears, Ohio House of Representatives, District 47

January 28 - "Building Sustainable Communities" - Myra Moss, Ohio State University Community Development Specialist, Licking County Extension Office

February 4 - "Technology in Local Government" - Glenn Grisdale, AICP, GISP, Reveille Limited

February 11 - "Communicating and Working with Citizens" - The Honorable Tom Waniewski, Toledo City Council, District 5

February 18 - "Team Building" - Margaret Parker, Assistant Professor, Owens Community College

February 25 - "Communicating and Working with the Media" - Mark Luetke, President, FLS Marketing

March 4 - "Intergovernmental Relations and Economic Development" - Tony Reams, President, Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments

March 11 - "Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution"

March 18 - "Ethics in Local Government" - Susan Willeke, Education Coordinator, Ohio Ethics Commission
