Friday, May 18, 2012
7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
WGTE Public TV Studios - 1270 S. Detroit Ave.

Topic:  The TPS Transformation Plan - The First Year

The May Edition of Eggs 'n' Issues Presented by Eastman & Smith Ltd. will spotlight how far the Toledo Public Schools have come during their first year of the "Transformation Plan".

The program will feature two panel discussions, each lasting approximately 40 minutes.  The first panel will feature principle players in the "Transformation Plan" and will incorporate viewpoints from Toledo Public Schools, the United Way and other community organizations partnering with the public school system  The second half of the program will focus on what could be called the "frontline" providers:  a principal, a teacher, an AmeriCorps graduation coach -- the people who are actually implementing the plan.

Since instituting the TPS Transformation Plan:

  • Participation in Parent-Teacher conferences is up from 75 to 85 percent
  • Discipline rates are down by 36 percent
  • A successful inclusion model for Special Education students has positively impacted 5,000 students
  • 150 students are enrolled in distance learning
  • Hub communities continue to develop

Cost:  $25 per person and includes breakfast.

Purchase the series of 3 Eggs n Issues events for $65!  Future dates are September 28 and November 16.

We appreciate the generous support of our sponsors:
