Get on Board 201 - Characteristics of Successful Boards and Board Members
Thursday, January 27 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. United Way Building Last year at Board 101, we spoke to what it takes to become a board member. This year, Julia Faulkner Pechlivanos, Director of Agency Support Services for The Center for Nonprofit Resources, will take it to the next level and share with the EPIC membership what it takes to be a successful board member. Non-profit board work is more than a monthly meeting and a job description with roles and responsibilities. Board members are responsible for providing leadership and vision to advance the mission of the organization, foster cohesiveness and promote strategic thinking. This session will focus on those traits that make a person successful as a board member. After we hear from Julia, we will have a panel discussion with speakers including
Blake Underwood, Assistant Director of the Dallas-Hamilton Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, College of Business Administration, Bowling Green State University
David F. Waterman, Attorney at Law, Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick LLP
Tasha Hussain Black, Marketing Development Manager, Turf and Specialty Group, The Andersons Inc.
Fred Treuhaft, Partner, Plante Moran
Various non-profits will be on hand to speak with regarding possible board opportunities.
This is a free event for EPIC members only.
