Leadership Academy 2011

This 10-week course outlines the basic issues, requirements, expectations and practices associated with various types of public service. If you are a current public official, private citizen considering running for public office, an individual appointed to a board, commission or committee or anyone employed in a position that requires interaction with elected officials -- you need to enroll in Leadership Academy.
Classes will be held every Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A light meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. prior to each class.
All sessions will be held at the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce (300 Madison Avenue, Suite 200) in downtown Toledo. Parking will be available underneath the building and is offered at no cost to class participants. The parking garage entrance is on Summit Street. Parking is provided by Toledo Edison, a FirstEnergy Company.
Cost for the 10 week course is $250 per person.

Jan. 17 "Leadership Skills, Styles & Effective Decision Making" Speaker: The Honorable Matt Szollosi, Ohio House of Representatives, District 49, Speaker Pro Tempore, 128th General Assembly.
Jan. 24 "Building Sustainable Communities" Speaker: Myra Moss, Community Development Specialist, Licking County Extension Office.
Jan. 31 "Team Building" Speaker: Gretchen Carroll, JD, Professor of Business Management & Director of Owens Community College Leadership Academy.
Feb. 7 "Intergovernmental Relations/Economic Development" Speaker: Tony Reams, President, Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments.
Feb. 14 "Technology in Local Government" Speaker: Glenn Grisdale, AICP, GISP, Reveille Limited.
Feb. 21 "Communicating & Working with Citizens" Speaker: Barbara Sears, The Honoroable Barbara Sears, Ohio House of Representatives, District 46.
Feb. 28 "Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution" Speaker: Maggie Lewis, Associate Director, The Ohio Commission on Dispute Resolution & Conflict Management.
Mar. 7 "Communicating & Working with the Media" Speaker: Fritz Wenzel, President, Wenzel Strategies.
