At its regular meeting at 4:00 p.m. today, Toledo City Council is expected to refer Resolution 289-18 to Council’s Committee of the Whole. The resolution would place on the November 6 ballot Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz’s proposed changes to the City Charter for creation of a Regional Water Commission. The Commission would consist of representatives from Toledo and its contract communities and would make recommendations concerning water system rates and capital improvements. Under the plan, Toledo City Council would consider and have the ability to reject Commission recommendations. A committee hearing on the proposal is scheduled for August 2 at 5:00 p.m. Members of the business community are encouraged to attend. Other legislation expected to be voted on by City Council include the following: • Ordinance 292-18 which would approve $90,000 from the Capital Improvement Program fund for repair and replacement of HVAC and major mechanical systems for the downtown underground concourses. An immediate project would include replacement of a unit located between the TARTA concourse and Imagination Station. • Ordinance 295-18 which would authorize the dedication of city-owned property in the Triad Business Park as public right-of-way for Riverfort Drive to facilitate future development. The property is located within the Maumee-Monclova-Toledo Joint Economic Development Zone. • Ordinance 296-18 which would approve $100,000 to replace aging vehicles for the Division of Building Inspection. The purchases are intended to ensure that inspectors have reliable transportation. • Ordinance 297-18 which would re-appropriate $100,000 within the Department of Development’s operating budget for removal of non-compliant commercial signs. These cases involve when signs are abandoned or the owner does not take required action to address sign violations. • Ordinance 298-18 which would approve Toledo Revival, LTD’s request for review for a historic landmark designation for a warehouse building located at 443 - 447 10th Street. Toledo Revival intends to redevelop the building into office space. All Council meetings are held in Council Chambers on the first floor of One Government Center, located on Jackson Boulevard in downtown Toledo.
