At its regular session today, Toledo City Council is expected to vote on Ordinance 32-18 which would appropriate $5,440,000 from the Capital Improvement Program Fund for the 2018 Matches and Planning Program. The funding would be used for match dollars for state and federal grants and loans for the below planned projects: • Resurfacing of Ottawa River Road between Suder Avenue and 290th Street, Erie Street between Lafayette Street and Cherry Street, Michigan Street and Spielbusch Avenue between Madison Avenue and Cherry Street, Monroe Street and Summit Street between Lafayette Street and Collingwood Boulevard, Summit Street between Monroe Street and Lagrange Street, Navarre Avenue between Willard Street and the city limit boundary, and Central Avenue between Manchester Boulevard and Densmore Drive. • Reconstruction of Central Avenue at Talmadge Road, and North and South Expressway Drive between Lagrange Street and Stickney Avenue. • Resurfacing and reconstruction of Front Street between I-280 and Millard Avenue. • Construction of a bikeway on the Anthony Wayne Trail Bridge at City Park, the Overland Bike Trail at Ottawa Park, and park connectors for the Overland Bike Trail and Chessie Circle Bike Trail. Council is also expected to vote on the following legislation: • Ordinance 35-18 which would authorize the transfer of the land of the Toledo Botanical Garden to Metroparks Toledo. Under the agreement between the City and Metroparks, 60 acres would be transferred, while sculptures at the site would remain the property of the City and continue to be curated by the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo. • Ordinance 46-18 which would authorize $4.5 million from the Water Operating Fund for the removal, hauling and beneficial reuse of spent lime at the Collins Park Water Treatment Facility. Spent lime is byproduct of the water treatment process. • Ordinance 47-18 which would appropriate $1 million to supplement funding for the Filter and Pipe Gallery Improvements Project at the treatment facility. The funding would pay for replacement of hand railing around 30 filter beds. • Ordinance 51-18 which would waive the annual maximum salary rate of $119,129 and authorize a salary of $125,000 for the position of Chief of Staff. All Council meetings are held in Council Chambers on the first floor of One Government Center, located on Jackson Boulevard in downtown Toledo.
