At its regular meeting scheduled for 4:00 p.m. today, Toledo City Council is expected to vote on Resolution 470-17 joining the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce in recognizing November 25, 2017 as Small Business Saturday. A proclamation will also be presented by Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson recognizing the occasion. Similar resolutions and proclamations have been or are expected to be adopted individually by the Lucas County and Wood County Commissioners; Cities of Bowling Green, Northwood, Oregon, and Rossford; and the Villages of Archbold and Ottawa Hills. City Council will also likely vote on Resolution 475-17 which would urge President Trump and Members of Congress to continue the Federal Historic Tax Credit (HTC) program as Congress develops a comprehensive federal tax reform package. The Chamber recently expressed its support to Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur and Congressman Bob Latta to preserve the HTC. Other legislation to be voted on by City Council include the following: · Ordinance 474-17 which would approve the nomination of Wendi R. Huntley for appointment to the Tax Board of Review. The Board reviews rules and regulations adopted by the Division of Taxation before they become effective, and hears appeals from individuals impacted by the Division’s decisions. · Ordinance 483-17 which would authorize re-appropriating $67,000 in the Division of Building Inspection’s budget to cover expenditures for supplemental clerical staffing and merchant fees for permits paid via credit card. Of the funding, $41,000 will be for supplemental staffing and $26,000 for merchant fees. All Council meetings are held in Council Chambers on the first floor of One Government Center, located on Jackson Boulevard in downtown Toledo.
