TOLEDO, Ohio – Friendship New Vision, Inc. is beginning construction on Valley Bridge, a new 70-unit affordable senior housing community located in Toledo’s Reynolds Corners neighborhood. National Church Residences and Friendship New Vision, Inc., a non-profit community development affiliate of Friendship Baptist Church, are partnering to develop the community, which will serve the growing senior population in the area. The three-story, 65,000-square-foot building will be complete in summer 2018. The new facility, located at 5351 Nebraska Avenue, will join the growing National Church Residences portfolio in Toledo that already includes Renaissance Senior Apartments, Arlington by the Lake and Commons at Garden Lake. “We are very excited to have a partner like Friendship New Vision,” said Matt Rule, senior vice president, development and construction, of National Church Residences. “This new development reconfirms our commitment to the Toledo community and will allow our organization to serve many more seniors.” “Friendship Baptist Church has served the Toledo community for over 110 years,” said Dr. Duane C. Tisdale, CEO of Friendship New Vision and bishop and senior pastor of Friendship Baptist Church. “We are truly humbled and excited about expanding our service to our senior community.” Valley Bridge includes a health care concept, Home for Life, which will leverage the University of Toledo Medical Center Geriatrics on-site Healthy Aging Clinic and the adjacent Friendship Baptist Church Volunteer Program — to improve health and decrease health care expenditures among residents. The new construction development was made possible thanks to the awarding of Low Income Housing Tax Credits by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, equity funds from National Equity Fund, a permanent FHA loan from Red Capital Marks, HOME funds from the City of Toledo, and anticipated Project Based Vouchers from the Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority. Toledo Local Initiatives Support Coalition serves as an advisor and consultant. Berardi Partners is the architect, and Rudolph Libbe Inc., of the Rudolph Libbe Group, is general contractor.
