At its regular meeting at 4:00 p.m. today, Toledo City Council is expected to vote on several ordinances that would appoint individuals who are nominated by Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson to serve on various boards and commissions, including: • Ordinance 104-17 which would appoint Eric Grosswiler, President for IBEW Local 8, to the Toledo Plan Commission to replace previous commission member Martin Jarret; • Ordinance 106-17 which would appoint Kim Cutcher, Executive Director of the Toledo Local Initiatives Support Corporation, to the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority board to replace previous board member Opie Rollison; and • Ordinance 130-17 which would appoint Do’Land Brown to the Administrative Board of Building Appeals to fill a previously vacant seat. Council is also expected to vote on the following legislation: • Resolution 134-17 which would state Council’s opposition to repealing the Affordable Care Act without replacing it with a plan that ensures the affordability of healthcare and preserves the expansion of Medicaid. It would also state Council’s opposition to Congress turning Medicare into a voucher program, raising the Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 67, and including workplace health benefits in workers taxable income. • Ordinance 135-17 which would reduce the speed limit from 35 to 25 miles per hour on Adams Street from Michigan Street to 22nd Street for pedestrian safety purposes. A speed reduction for a portion of this route was requested by the Village on Adams in its application that was approved by City Council in 2015 which established an Outdoor Refreshment Area. • Ordinance 137-17 which would authorize amending the cooperative grant agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation to accept an additional $1,422,400 in grant funds for the Anthony Wayne Trail Gateway project. The funding will be matched by $284,480 from the Capital Improvement Program fund under the 2017 Matches and Planning Program. All Council meetings are held in Council Chambers on the first floor of One Government Center, located on Jackson Boulevard in downtown Toledo.
