Are you registered to vote? With all of the attention on the presidential race this November, it can be easy to forget about the election for county offices, state representatives and senators, judicial seats, and ballot issues. Often times these elected officials “down ticket” have a greater impact on your business than the presidency does on issues like taxes and education. That is one reason why it is so important for members of the business community to participate in the election process by going to the polls. However, you can’t vote if you’re not registered. If you are a new resident of Ohio or just moved down the street since the last time you voted, you need to update your voter registration. Ohio law requires voters to be registered no less than 30 days before an election in order to cast a ballot. This year, voters must be registered to vote by October 11th. You can register or update your registration by visiting the Ohio Secretary of State’s website. You can also pick up a voter registration form at places like the Chamber or your local board of election office. Visit the Chamber's helpful Campaign Central for resources. If you are already registered, encourage a friend or co-worker to get registered.
