At its regular meeting scheduled for 4:00 p.m. today, Toledo City Council will likely vote on the following legislation: • Ordinance 228-16 releasing the City of its option to repurchase the Marina District from Dashing Pacific Group, Ltd., and extending to a third party options to purchase the nearby Acme Site, Thomas Edison Park and additional parcels. The ordinance facilitates sale of the Marina District to Midland Title and Escrow, Ltd., which is serving as trustee. Plans involve ProMedica taking ownership of the property and eventually selling it to Metroparks Toledo. • Ordinance 234-16 authorizing $125,000 from the Storm Water Operating Fund for the City’s share of costs with Lucas County for the development of a Nutrient Sources and Amounts Assessment Plan. This initiative aims to identify, quantify and reduce the impacts from nutrient sources contributing to Harmful Algal Blooms in the Western Lake Erie Basin. Ordinance 226-16, which would create requirements regarding lead-based paint in single-family and duplex rental properties constructed prior to 1978, will be referred to Council’s Committee of the Whole. Such properties would be required to obtain a certificate by passing an inspection and paying a $45 filing fee. The ordinance does not require full abatement of lead paint, but rather using practices to reduce exposure. Penalties are included in the ordinance for non-compliance. The committee hearing is scheduled for Monday, June 27 at 4:00 p.m. Ordinance229-16, authorizing the sale of the former Southwyck Mall site for $2.8 million to trustee Louisville Title Agency for Northwest Ohio, Inc., will likely be given first reading. The ordinance also extends to June 30 the listing agreement with NAI Harmon, formerly Industrial Developers, Ltd., which brokered the sale. It also reserves for the City the right to repurchase the site if $2.5 million in improvements are not made to it within five years. All Council meetings are held in Council Chambers on the first floor of One Government Center, located on Jackson Boulevard in downtown Toledo.
