As National Volunteer Month comes to an end, we felt this quote from one of Caching Memories volunteers perfectly embodies an important core mission for us all - changing lives.     Meet ✨Mollie✨ from the University of Cincinnati! Here is what she had to say about volunteering with the Caching Memories program:    ✨How does volunteering inspire you?  "Volunteering inspires me because I know that I have the power to change lives. Knowing that I can make a positive impact really keeps me going. I have been given so much and I want to give back!"    ✨Why do you think keeping older adults connected is important?  "I think it's important to keep older adults connected because consistent social connection can improve their overall quality of life. Some may not have many friends or family to talk to, especially during the day, so it's nice to be that person for them."    ✨What is your favorite part about volunteering with Caching Memories?  "My favorite part about volunteering with Catching Memories is creating a bond with the Memory Holder. This past semester, during our last call my Memory Holder told me they loved me. This had such an emotional impact on me and I am so glad I had the opportunity to get to know them on a different level!"    Thank you to Mollie and the countless volunteers who put their passion to work by volunteering with Caching Memories! We could not do this important work without YOU and our gratitude extends past National Volunteer Month and throughout the whole year.   #NationalVolunteerMonth #Volunteer #Community #StudentVolunteers #OlderAdults #ThankYou Learn more about the impact of Caching Memories here: https://lnkd.in/gMUykqcq

Harvard Business Publishing states that, “Telling stories is one of the most powerful means that leaders have to influence, teach, and inspire. What makes storytelling so effective for learning? For starters, storytelling forges connections among people, and between people and ideas. Stories convey the culture, history, and values that unite people.” And we couldn't agree more. Share your stories, listen to the stories of others, and harness the power of storytelling to create positive change. #NationalTellAStoryDay #TellAStory #Storytelling #ShareYourStory #Inspire #Connection

April is National Volunteer Month, and we are celebrating by highlighting some of the incredible students that volunteer with the Caching Memories program. Meet ✨Fariza✨ from the Virginia Commonwealth University! Here is what she had to say about volunteering with the Caching Memories program:    ✨How does volunteering inspire you?  "Volunteering inspires me because through my volunteering experiences, I can sense a personal growth that helps me make a meaningful impact towards the community. Volunteering with Caching Memories allows me to gain new perspectives and develop essential skills in an environment that enables me to grow, learn, and evolve into a compassionate and capable individual."    ✨Why do you think keeping older adults connected is important?  "Keeping older adults connected is important because maintaining connections gives them a sense of purpose. Take a moment to acknowledge the small victories that often go unnoticed. Whether it's overcoming a challenge, reaching a personal milestone, or simply getting through a tough day, every small victory deserves recognition.   Remember, progress isn't always measured by grand achievements but by the small steps we take along the way that bring us one step closer to our goals. #Reminder

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Story Writing Intern, Ara! 🌟 During her time with achi, Ara has written several Memory Cache Books for older adults who have participated in the Caching Memories program. Each book contains the personal life stories and memories shared as a keepsake for the older adults. Once received, they share their book with family, friends, and caregivers, providing an avenue to reminiscence and connect with others even after the program ends. Ara's care and attention to detail brings these books to life, and creates a treasured emblem for families that spans generations. When asked about her experience, Ara shared, "Interning with achi has given me the opportunity to develop my writing skills and put them to use through storytelling, which is what I love to do! Getting to learn about people's lives and then develop their memories into a storybook that their families will cherish forever has been extremely rewarding. I have enjoyed working with the amazing, friendly staff at achi and admire the service that they provide people. I would love to continue using my writing for storytelling and I feel motivated to go forward after graduation with the encouragement and direction I have received while interning with achi." Ara's contributions have made a significant impact, and we're grateful for her dedication, creativity, and passion for storytelling. We wish her all the best as she continues to pursue her writing journey! #ThankYou #Storytelling #TeamAppreciation

Meet ✨Katelyn✨ from Virginia Commonwealth University! Here is what she had to say about volunteering with Caching Memories: ✨How does volunteering inspire you? As a future clinical healthcare professional, this experience has inspired me to make an effort to connect with every patient I will serve, no matter their age, race, or any other identity. Everyone deserves quality, meaningful connections and care!" ✨Why do you think keeping older adults connected is important? "Keeping older adults connected is important because it can help curb feelings of loneliness and isolation. This can improve mental health, which then can even help improve physical health!
