Duties:
Working from our Monroe, MI office - Under direct supervision of the Michigan Construction Group Manager will provide construction contract administration duties including technical and administrative assistance in the operation of their group; performs related work as required. Ensures project documentation is maintained in accordance with time schedules, engineering specifications, and quality standards. Primary activities relate to construction management and inspection services for transportation, municipal, site development and energy projects. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of the functions, operations, programs and activities of field staff; comprehensive knowledge of MDOT specifications, FieldManager software, construction practices and techniques; some knowledge of the functions of the other teams within the Construction Management Group. Considerable skill in presenting ideas clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing. Considerable ability to organize, coordinate and review the work of construction observation personnel. Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and to analyze and solve complex problems. Professional experience in construction management or construction observation. Associates Degree in Construction Technology or related field preferred. Primary Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of this position are as follows: 1. Maintains project files in accordance with MDOT and FHWA guidelines 2. Knowledgeable in all aspects of the FieldManager system, and procedures regarding project record documentation. 3. Provides construction administration, field implementation and record keeping per the most current Special Provision for Construction Document Management and MDOT procedures. 4. Provides technical and professional advice in area of expertise. 5. Investigates and responds to complaints and inquiries. 6. Notifies the Project Engineer of any unanticipated Project conditions and any changes, extras, or adjustments to the contract before processing a Work Order and/or Contract Modification. 7. Performs QA/QC on Inspector Daily Reports (IDR’s) 8. Prepares construction reports, including progress reports, pay estimates, work orders, contract modifications, certified payrolls, etc. 9. Verifies calculations of field personnel associated with recorded quantities on IDR’s. 10. Communicates with contractors for project documentation as appropriate. 11. Coordinates interim and final project record reviews. 12. Facilitates project closeout and ensure all projects are closed out within 120 days of completion. 13. Works with Group Manager and Team Leaders to maintain and establish guidelines/procedures for proper reporting and documentation. 14. Coordinates and tracks training and certifications for assigned staff as appropriate with Group Manager and Team Leaders.
